Pickleball Grip Size Chart: Hand Measurement to Grip

Measure from the middle crease of your palm to the tip of your ring finger: about 4.0 in means a 4 in grip, 4.25 in a 4 1/4 in grip, and 4.5 in a 4 1/2 in grip. Between sizes, choose the smaller grip and add an overgrip.

A grip that is too small makes you squeeze harder, which tires the forearm and is a common contributor to elbow strain.

Frequently asked questions

What is the standard pickleball grip size?

There is no official standard, but 4 1/4 inch circumference is the most common grip on adult paddles, with 4 1/8 and 4 3/8 inch close behind. Players with smaller hands often use 4 inch grips, and players with large hands build a 4 1/2 inch grip up with overgrips.

Is the pickleball grip size chart the same as tennis?

The measuring method is the same: palm crease to ring finger tip. Pickleball players often choose a slightly smaller grip than they use in tennis because more wrist action helps with spin and quick volleys, and the paddle is lighter so less squeeze is needed.
